Not a Religion

Freemasonry is not a religion.

Freemasonry has many moral and ethical lessons to teach, but never does it take the place of one's personal beliefs in his God or his religion. We encourage you to pursue your religious beliefs as you choose.

You Must Ask

One requirement to become a Freemason is, that it be of your own free will and accord. You will never be asked to join the fraternity, or at least you should never be asked.

We Believe

In Brotherly love, relief, and truth

These are the tenets of Freemasonry, and we try to practice these not only in Masonic Lodges, but in our lives every day.

Words To Remember

Punctuality

When a secretary of George Washington, excusing himself for being late, said that his watch was too slow, the reply of Washington was, " You must get a new watch, or I must get a new secretary."

The trouble with being punctual is that nobody's there to appreciate it. ~ Franklin P. Jones

The Masonic Ring Lyrics

He always shines a special light
To everyone he meets
He loves to talk
And shake the hands
Of everyone he greets
He’s always optimistic
He’ll give you anything
On his hand he proudly wears a ring

I’d seen the emblem often
On signs in many towns
And you’ll see it on old tombstones
In graveyards all around
So I asked if he would tell me
Exactly what it means
He smiled and said
I’ll tell you about this ring

Chorus
It’s the way that I can tell the world
The kind of man I am
And I put my trust
In God Above
And for brotherhood I stand
It reminds me to be honest
To remember whence I came
I’m a man that you can count on
That’s why I wear this ring

So with shaking voice
I returned all my three degrees
And just before I saw the light
While bending on my knees
The room was all so silent
All at once I got to see
My eyes begin to focus on
Dad and my own ring

Chorus
Now it’s the way
That I will tell the world
The kind of man I am
That put my trust in God above
And for brotherhood I stand
It reminds me to be honest
To remember whence I came
I’ll be a man that you can count on
That’s why I wear this ring

Tonight I watched as my son
Returned his own E.A.

Locating Relatives

Trying to find a relative who was a Freemason?

We frequently get questions about finding relatives who may have been a Mason. Here are some points to remember when looking for a Masonic relative.

In general, local Lodges in Ohio do not keep records for deceased members.

The best way to see if there is a record is to contact the Grand Lodge of Ohio.
